Maximum Ride 1-3 (The Fugitives)

Ouch!

Six kids, known as The Flock, have been genetically altered in a science lab to have wings. They escape from the "School" where they were engineered and try to find a place where they can be left alone to live as normal a life as possible for a group of kids who can fly.

Throughout the series, the kids search the nation for their parents, look over their wings for Erasers, the half wolf-half men beings that are trying to eliminate all of them, try to get in and out of the school to help the youngest of The Flock escape, and are betrayed time and again. These kids understand the meaning of do-it-yourself!

The dangers and battles the kids go through to escape from the scientists and earn true freedom wear them down, but they pick themselves up each time.
